Sophisticated
drilling and hydrocarbon production technologies require an in depth knowledge
of fluid properties: hydrocarbon (oil & gas), water plus any combination in
addition to external fluids i.e. drilling muds and chemicals.
The
thermodynamic behaviour of these fluids influences the reservoir and production
stream: density, viscosity etc. depend upon pressure, temperature and
composition. Mud rheology at low shear plays a key role in control of SAG,
similarly, coaxial shear rheology aids waxy crude oil transportation in
predicting ideal flow conditions, selection and optimisation of flow improvers
and inhibitors if required.
PMAC manufacture specialised test cells for
such rheological studies of drilling mud and fluids, workover completion fluids
and cements, in addition to systems for production fluids studies such as |

production enhancing additives to improve fluidicity |

viscosity improvers |
