The Model 4216
Pressurised mud balance is a self contained measuring device used to accurately
determine the denisties of drilling fluids , cement slurries and similar
materials under pressure.
When gas or air bubbles are present in the
drilling fluid, the volume occupied by the entrapped gas bubbples may distort
the accuracy of the fluid density measurement. Such distortion is signicantly
reduced by pressurizing the fixed volume of the fluid in the cup, thereby
preventing the gas from expanding. The operation is similar to that of a
conventional mud balance.
The purpose of the pressurized mud balance is
to minimize the effect of entrained air and gas upon slurry density
measurement. By pressurizing the sample cup, any entrained air or gas will be
decreased to a negligeable volume , thus providing a slurry density measurement
closely to that of under downhole conditions |
